Review: Morirás lejos

No pude resistir el morbo de leer a un autor que recientemente falleció y del cual únicamente había leído Batallas en el desierto,el cual me encantó.

La narrativa de este libro es muy interesante, presentando 2 historias de inicio inconexas, pero que como va avanzando el libro van tomando sentido, al menos hasta cierto punto.

Una de las historias es mucho más rara que la otra, "Salónica" cuenta la historia de dos personajes misteriosos que viven en la ciudad de méxico en los años 60's (para el momento en que fue escrita la novela, era la actualidad). "Eme" y "Alguién" son los nombres que Pacheco decide ponerle a estos personajes. Pacheco invita al lector a juegar a adivinar los motivos, situaciones, personalidades de estos misteriosos personajes y hace partícipe de su proceso creativo y desarrollo de la historia.

La otra historia habla sobre el pueblo judío y sus conflictos con otros pueblos, desde los romanos y culminando con el holocausto de la segunda guerra mundial.

Es realmente un libro "raro" pero sin duda muy interesante.

Review: Life of Pi

Life of Pi by Yann Martel

I haven't seen the film, but obviously I have heard many good things about it, that made my expectatins rise pretty high, and I think this book did met them or at least came very close.

In the first part of the book, the main character is introduced, and it is plain to see that Patel Piscine was a very endearing boy, and one of those characters you feel sad when bad things happen to him.

In the first part of the book I felt like the author was proselytizing religion or the idea of a good god and that zoos are a good place for animals, two ideas which I am against, nonetheless it was an interesting development of the main character.

The second part is where all the incredible things happen, and is without a dobdt the most exciting part of the book, full of wonders, conflict, and intrigue.

The ending was the best part for me,it leaved me, as any good ending should, with mixed feelings and wanting for more.
